SECURITY TRAINING BOOK SELECTIONS
THE ROLE OF THE SECURITY OFFICER
This professional training manual covering all aspects of the Armed and Unarmed security guard profession was originally released in 2006 but it has been updated to reflect current international and domestic (American) conditions. The material is packaged in a heavy-duty 3-ring binder for the instructor containing 320+ pages with 27 chapters (The author adds more pages from time to time to keep the manual up to date with the latest techniques and legal requirements). This 3-ring binder version allows the instructor to edit, update and insert material as needed and to produce handouts for students.
There is a student handbook version available in a softcover for $39.95 and for $59.95 for the hardcover version. (See Below) Anyone ordering the instructor manual should consider ordering enough of the student textbooks to provide each student with one so they can study the material in advance and/or follow along during the class.
This instructor manual provides material that meets or exceeds State training requirements for the private security guard profession in Washington State and other states and much of the material is applicable for international security operations as well. Each chapter in the unarmed guard sections concludes with a set of quiz questions. There is a fifty question final exam designed to assist students in passing the state unarmed guard exam.
A Power Point CD of this material that contains talking points and highlights of each chapter is available to assist the instructor with professional presentations.

CLIENT MANUAL REVIEWS
Michael: I just received the manual and did a very brief review. Looks great! I can see that you did a lot of preparation. Thanks for being on top of a situation that called for some quick resolution (the DOL’s raised requirements, but lack of support material).

I was most impressed and bought a copy of the new manual the same day at the monthly WSSC meeting.

If anyone in the world has earned the right to compose a training manual for Security Officers, it is Michael Jaquish. Mr. Jaquish has filled a void in Washington States’ Security Officer training program, not only for the officers in the field but for the trainers as well. “The Role of the Security Officer” by Michael Jaquish is a comprehensive training program designed to follow the guide lines mandated by the State of Washington for Security Officer licensing qualifications. I highly recommend this training program to be used state wide because it is professionally written and simplified in its organization. Michael Jaquish is truly a Security Professional concerned about the safety of all Americans. Good job Mike.

Study Guide for the Washington State Security Guard Certified Trainer & Company Principal Examination
The Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL) requires all security guard company principals and certified trainer applicants to demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in the following areas when they sit for the Unarmed Guard Certified Trainer examination and the Company Principal exam:
(1) All topics in the security guard per-assignment training course
(2) Washington State laws & regulations regarding security guards and company licensing
(3) Legal and liability issues related to the security guard industry
(4) General security management
Many Company Principal & Certified Trainer applicants fail the State Company Principal & Certified Trainer exam because they lack familiarity with the material on the examination and do not have the time or motivation to download and review all the study material recommended by the Department of Licensing. The information contained in this STSI manual is designed to assist applicants in passing these difficult examinations because the book meets or exceeds all Washington State requirements for material that must be reviewed prior to passing the Company Principal and Certified Trainer examination. The book includes information from the websites and locations recommended by the State of Washington DOL website as well as selected excerpts from THE ROLE OF THE SECURITY OFFICER (see below), which is used by many Certified Trainers around the state to comply with the initial and annual training requirements for private security guards in The State of Washington.
Every Washington State Certified Trainer and Company Principal should own a copy!
This manual is also an excellent reference book for Company Principals & Certified Trainers because it contains all the RCW (Revised Code of Washington) laws and WAC rules and regulations that apply to the private security industry. Whether you are preparing to pass the exam or simply desire to remain in compliance with the law you need to have this book on your shelf.

Thank you for putting this together. I was, as you say all over the web searching for study information for the Certified Trainer exam. My company contacted STSI in April, 2008, when we started doing business in WA AMC Theaters. At that time, I received excellent information from you via phone, about the WA security industry in general and acquiring our license. We are on your mailing list and I receive the “Vigilant American” newsletter, a must read for Security professionals. I’ve purchased and used your “Role of the Security Officer” training manual and pocket books. You were also kind enough to send me a firearms lease agreement for our armed agents. In short, having you for a contact has been enormously rewarding for our company, Custom Protective Service. Thank you for all you do for the security industry and your promotion of our country’s safety.
Aleda C. Sebenick: Custom Protective Services (firstname.lastname@example.org)
A few months back I bought the Certified Trainer Study & Reference Manual from you and I want to thank you because I passed my Certified Trainer and Company Principal test easily thanks to your valuable book.
FIREARMS SAFETY, MARKSMANSHIP & STREET SURVIVAL
“Hope for the best… but plan for the worst!”
What does it take to survive a gunfight? Shooting skills, familiarity with your weapon and mental preparation form the basic components of the survival formula. The author has spent thirty years showing police officers, private security guards, bounty hunters, armored truck personnel and the military how to punch holes in the center of the target. More importantly, he has shown them how to be the last one standing when the smoke clears.
This small book is literally packed with information designed to prepare anyone to survive in a dangerous world. It represents a condensation of the high-points of firearms and street survival instruction accumulated by the law enforcement and private security industry over the last several decades. In addition, each chapter has a quiz and there is a final exam at the end of the book to aid readers in retaining the material. Whether you are a firearms or street survival instructor looking for a comprehensive textbook for firearms training or a citizen seeking tools for your toolbox to provide the skills you need to shoot well and survive in a dangerous world, this is the book for you.

Washington State Bail Bond Recovery Agent Exam, Study Guide & Reference Manual
The Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL) requires that all Bail Bond Recovery Agents complete a specific course of study and successfully pass the Washington State Bail Bond Recovery Agent examination in order to obtain their Bail Bond Recovery Agent license. The DOL web site lists numerous links that those interested in becoming Bail Bond Recovery Agents can explore to help prepare them for the challenging exam. Visiting all these web sites and combing through the hundreds of pages of material is a very time-consuming and cumbersome process. Michael Jaquish of STSI (Security Training Services International) has refined the process by doing all that work for you and compiling the study material into this book that will serve as both a study guide for passing the exam and as a reference manual.
NOTE: This book has been created to provide fugitive recovery agents in Washington State with the basic information on the laws and regulations that apply to this profession and assist students of this profession in passing the Washington State Bail Enforcement Agent licensing exam. Applicants are expected to obtain significant additional personal classroom instruction in other skills in areas such as skip-tracing, unarmed defensive tactics, baton and handcuffing and firearms that are vital to rounding out their ability to perform the job safely, professionally and legally.

– A MANUAL FOR WHAT TO DO WHEN THE WORST HAPPENS-
A guide for maintaining personal safety and security in an unsafe world
Violence and danger is around us all the time. The moment we choose to acknowledge that, we are on our way to a voyage of discovery to formulate plans that will reduce the likelihood that we will become a victim of that violence. Choosing to become a survivor takes a mental leap. For some, that leap is more of an effort than it is for others, but it is possible for everyone.
Survival, first and foremost means awareness. An aware person is a person who is ready for action. It doesn’t take a paranoid person to prepare for the possibility that at some point today you may be faced with a situation that may require all your resources to survive. Whether it is utilizing your peripheral vision to duck as something unexpectedly flies in your direction, or avoiding being side-swiped by another car on the freeway, taking refuge during an earthquake or tornado, or taking a wide turn around a shady-looking character as you negotiate your way up the sidewalk on your way to work. all these events will play out in your favor if you are aware and prepared to act according to a plan.
Society has evolved into a condition we call civilized. Civilization has come to mean safety and security.. an environment that nurtures and protects us, preserves individual rights and does not require constant vigilance in order to remain alive. Somehow, this misconception continues to exist amidst a steady stream of evidence to the contrary. Much of modern depression is directly related to the overwhelming series of violence fed to us by the news media every day. Stories of kidnappings, killings, horrific accidents, terrorist attacks and natural disasters numb our senses as we search for answers that will keep us from being swept into the abyss of chaos and anarchy. Most often we fool ourselves into pretending such things happen to others. never to us, and we struggle to go about our daily routines in a state of bliss or complacency… a strange kind of self-imposed condition of denial of the reality that we are in fact living in a very dangerous world. This book offers important tips on how you can take control of your personal security and survive life altering events with confidence.
